Ultraformer

Focused ultrasound for lifting and tightening

Ultraformer uses focused ultrasound (HIFU) to send gentle heat to set depths beneath the skin. This encourages new collagen and helps tighten loose skin, while the surface of the skin is left alone.

Your treatment is given by one of our aesthetic doctors in a private suite at 9 Queen Anne Street, inside a CQC-registered hospital. We use it on the face for lifting and tightening, and on the body for tightening and smoothing. There are no needles and usually no downtime.

Ultraformer treatment on the jawline at Reborne, Marylebone, London

How it works

How focused ultrasound works

The ultrasound is focused on a small point under the skin, where it heats the tissue for a fraction of a second. The skin’s surface is not affected, and your skin responds by making new collagen over the following months.

Different heads reach different depths: shallow ones for skin quality and fine lines, and deeper ones for the firm layer of tissue that is also tightened in a surgical facelift.

How the treatment works

We apply a gel and your doctor moves the handpiece over your skin. You will feel brief warm pulses. Most people find the face comfortable, while some body areas can feel more intense, and numbing is not usually needed.

Treatment takes from 30 minutes for one area to 90 minutes for the face and body. Any redness or swelling usually settles within hours, and you can return to your normal routine straight away.

Afterwards

What to expect afterwards

Some people notice their skin feels firmer straight away. Further changes build gradually over the following months as your skin makes new collagen, and results vary.

Your doctor may suggest a second treatment after six to twelve months. For body treatments, drinking plenty of water helps, and LPG lymphatic drainage at Reborne can be paired with your sessions.

Treatment areas

What Ultraformer treats

Ultraformer can be used on the face, neck and body for lifting and tightening.

Face and neck lifting
Ultraformer reaches the deeper layer of tissue that is also tightened in a surgical facelift. It is used to lift the cheeks, jawline and neck without surgery, for early to moderate loose skin.

Jawline and jowls
Treatment under the chin and along the lower face can tighten the tissue behind jowls and a softening jawline. Your doctor can combine deeper and shallower settings for a more defined lower face.

Body
On areas of the body, Ultraformer is used for tightening and smoothing the skin. Your doctor will talk you through which areas suit it and what you can expect.

Loose skin on the body
For loose skin on the body, Ultraformer encourages collagen deep in the skin to help it look firmer and smoother.

Neck and décolletage
The neck and chest can be treated with shallower settings to help with skin quality, horizontal lines and early loosening.

Combining with other treatments
Ultraformer works by encouraging your skin to make new collagen, and collagen naturally declines with age. It can be combined with other treatments at Reborne, such as red light therapy, exosome therapy and polynucleotides, as part of your wider care. Your doctor will suggest a plan that suits you.
